Mount Pleasant Councilwoman Linda Page announced on Thursday that she's entering the race for mayor. Before 100 or so friends in her antique shop's barn, Page said she hopes to build on the town's current successes. She said she would aim to be an honest mayor who encourages citizen involvement.
Voters will elect a new mayor in November 2013. That's also when four council seats will be up for election. Qualification for mayor and council opens Aug. 19 and closes Aug. 26. Page is the second candidate to declare intentions to run for mayor. Former Councilman Joe Bustos has already been campaigning for several months.
