Search for Woman Suspended

Police conclude weekend search with no signs of Dara Watson.

More than 100 people searched over the weekend for Dara Watson in the Francis Marion National Forest, but police suspended the search Sunday afternoon, according to media reports.

Police have been searching for the 30-year-old woman since Friday when her mother reported not hearing from the Mount Pleasant woman since Wednesday. It was then that police connected a burned-out and abandoned SUV, which they found earlier in the week, to the missing woman, according to the Post and Courier.

"At this point it's an active investigation and we're really trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together," Chief Harry Sewell of the Mount Pleasant Police told WCBD-TV. "Nothing is more important that this young lady's life."

Police found Watson's live-in fiance, David Hedrick, dead inside the couple's home in the Rivertowne subdivision, according to ABCNews4. There's been no cause of death released for Hedrick. Police say they are focused on finding Watson.

The search in the national forest began Saturday and went until mid afternoon Sunday.

"We had seven search groups with about seven to 10 people for each search group," Charleston County Sheriff's spokesman Maj. James Brady told ABCNews4. "We will go until we are fairly confident that the areas we checked are clear of anything of value."
