Mount Pleasant's Oldest Home on Market

Home has a storied past linked to Mount Pleasant's founding.

What's believed to be Mount Pleasant's oldest home has just been listed on the market for $3.5 million.

The Hibben House was originally constructed in 1759 and was built by Jacob Motte, who established a plantation east of the Cooper called Mount Pleasant. It's from this plantation that the town later derived its name. Read more about its history.

The home has been extensively modified and expanded since then. Today it's just shy of 4,000 square feet and features 4 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, according to the property's listing on Zillow.com.

Located in the town's Old Village, the Hibben House has a prime view of downtown Charleston and the Ravenel Bridge in the distance.

Though its pushing 260 years old, the home has reportedly been extensively renovated. It was last sold in 2011 for $1.3 million, according to Zillow.com.
