Town on Heightened State of Alert for TS Andrea

High winds, inland flooding expected.

Mount Pleasant Public Services, Fire and Police leadership met this morning to review emergency preparedness plans.

“We are in a heightened state of readiness and will monitor Andrea very closely,” said Town Administrator Eric DeMoura. “Additional staff has been called to assist during this rain event. We will activate our Emergency Operations Center at midnight to monitor the storm. We urge the public to monitor local news media and to be prepared in case Tropical Storm Andrea moves toward our coastline.”

CONDITIONS
This is what you can expect based upon the National Weather Service-Charleston's latest update:
• Wind-low impact; possible tropical storm force winds expected to be confined to immediate coastal areas and Atlantic waters to include Charleston Harbor
• Inland flooding-high impact; due to heavy rainfall
• Tornado: low impact; mainly along and east of I-95 late today and tonight
• Marine (water): moderate impact; seas building 5-10 feet near shore and 10-15 feet off shore
