Ken Glasson Won't Run for Congress
Town councilman, retired Marine officer ran for the seat in 2010.
Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Ken Glasson has announced he won't run for South Carolina's First Congressional District seat left vacant by Tim Scott's appointment to the U.S. Senate.
Glasson's statement:
"I am honored by the number of phone calls and emails I have received encouraging me to run for the 1st Congressional District. I am also humbled that I was listed as one of the viable candidates by the GOP. As a retired Marine, it would seem a great opportunity, as a good portion of the district has changed to include the Marine Air Base in the Beaufort area. However, at this time, after careful consideration, numerous counsel and prayers, the burning in my heart is focused on continuning to serve the people of Mount Pleasant as a Councilman, a Coach, and advocate for Tots for Tots program.
