Woman Dies Following Coleman Blvd. Crash

Caroline Catherine Walters died this morning following Sunday crash.

The woman struck by an SUV on Coleman Boulevard on Sunday has died, according to the Charleston County Coroner.

Caroline Catherine Walters, 32, died just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at Medical University Hospital. She sustained traumatic head injuries that led to her eventual death.

The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the Shem Creek Bridge along Coleman Boulevard. When police arrived, they saw Walters lying in the road with a group of pedestrians surrounding her.

An SUV was stopped nearby, and the driver said she struck Walters. A passenger in that vehicle told officers that Walters apparently stepped into the roadway and was struck by the Jeep.

The case remains under investigation, according to police spokesman Maj. Stan Gragg.
