Sunday Funeral Planned for Crash Victim

Memorial for Caroline Catherine Walters set for St. George church.

A memorial is set for 3 p.m. Sunday in St. George for Caroline Catherine Walters, the woman who died from injuries sustained in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on Coleman Boulevard.

The 32-year-old USC alumna was director of marketing and office manager at Deerfield Plantation in St. George, according to her obituary. She's survived by her parents, her sister and a boyfriend.

Family and friends will gather Sunday at St. George United Methodist Church. The family is asking memorials be made in her honor to Penn State University, Dr. Craig Myers Breast Cancer Research, Office of Research and Alumni Relations.

Walters died early Wednesday morning from head injuries sustained in the 12:30 a.m. Sunday crash on Shem Creek Bridge in Mount Pleasant. The motorist who struck Walters has not been charged. Read more here.

A witness in the driver's vehicle told police that Walters stepped into traffic. The case remains under investigation by Mount Pleasant police.
