Police Major Resigns Following DUI

Major Frank Riccio steps down after accident, DUI charges.

The second in command at the Mount Pleasant Police Department has resigned after a weekend arrest on DUI charges, according to a statement today from Chief Harry Sewell.

After 29 Years of exemplary service with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Major Frank Riccio resigned his position as police officer effective Monday, March 5, 2012.  I appreciate his loyal and dedicated service over the years and wish him the best in the future, Chief Sewell wrote.

Riccio, 51, was arrested and charged with DUI on Saturday just south of Georgetown when he wrecked his personal vehicle around 2 p.m., according to reports.
