Naked Intruder Taken for Observation Following Home Invasion

Woman awakes at 3 a.m. to man sitting in her bedroom.

An Awendaw woman was awoken at 3:30 a.m. this morning by a man sitting in her bedroom telling her that "everyone is dead," according to sheriff's deputies.

The man then took of his pants and asked for a drink of water, according to reports. The victim's husband held the man in the Gadsdenville Road home's driveway until authorities arrived.

The 31-year-old North Charleston suspect has been placed in protective custody and taken for observation, said Maj. James Brady, spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff's office.

As the woman led the man downstairs, the suspect allegedly groped the victim, deputies said.

"The victim stated that while she was next door the subject appeared to be ejaculating in the driveway," Brady said in a news release. "It was discovered that (the suspect) had rummaged through several vehicles on the property before breaking into the home however nothing of value was noted to have been taken."

The man man was apparently confused when questioned by deputies and he spoke in made-up languages, Brady said. He provided various names and birth dates.

"Due to his present mental state was taken into protective custody and transported for an evaluation," Brady said. "At this time criminal charges are pending the results of the evaluation."

Since charges may not be filed, Patch has withheld the suspect's name.
