Obituary: Mark G. Manocchio, 31

Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 in Leesburg, Va.

A much-loved husband, father, son and brother, Mark G. Manocchio, 31, formerly of Kearneysville, WV, passed away suddenly Aug. 13, 2012. He had an exuberant love of life, an adventurous spirit, and a quick wit. Mark was a world-traveler who grasped every opportunity presented. He was active until the last day of his life, having just moved days earlier to his dream home near the beach in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., enjoying fun in the sun with his daughters while awaiting the homecoming of his newborn baby girl.

Mark was born Jan. 2, 1981, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was a longtime Leesburg, VA area resident. He graduated from Loudoun County High School in 1999 and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration/Computer Information Science from James Madison University in 2003. He worked at WAGE radio while in high school, and was a member of the Loudoun County Rescue Squad through high school and college. Following graduation from college he worked for e-Home Solutions in information systems technology. Mark served as a police officer and later was promoted to detective with the Leesburg Police from 2004 to 2010. He served a tour in Iraq (2010-2011) supporting combat operations and later worked at Booz Allen from 2011-2012 as a cyber-security expert, before packing his family up to embark on a new adventure with the Department of the Navy in South Carolina.

Mark leaves behind his adoring wife of 7 years, Kristy (Neidringhaus) Manocchio and their three young daughters, Alexis (9), Adyson (6), and Sophia (newborn) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his parents Dominic and Kathleen (Bender) Manocchio of Leesburg, VA; six siblings, Christopher of Hollywood, CA, Anthony (Ayonda) of Ashburn, VA, Michelle (Graig) Jackson of Ashburn, VA, Nicholas, Patrick, and Kaitlin of Leesburg, VA, along with six nephews and nieces.

Mark truly had an appreciation and zest for life as evidenced by one of his favorite email signatures "When you were born you cried and the world rejoiced, live your life in such a manner that when you die the world cries and you rejoice” and live life he did! Mark accomplished more during his short lifetime and touched more hearts than most of us will do in a hundred years.
Mark was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown, WV Mark where he was a Brother Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA.

The family will receive friends at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg on Tuesday, August 21 2012 from 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 55 Oak Crest Manor in Leesburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
