Mathis Ferry Closure Tonight

Ongoing Johnnie Dodds work to interrupt traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Charleston County Government announces a new, traffic alert as part of the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project in Mount Pleasant. The purpose of this closure is to allow construction crews to pave asphalt in the southbound lanes of Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and install storm drainage pipes at Mathis Ferry Road:

Monday, Oct. 3  - Partial Nighttime Road Closure at the intersection of Johnnie Dodds Blvd and Mathis Ferry Road:

  • Crews will close southbound lanes of Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and a portion of Mathis Ferry Road between Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and West Frontage Road for paving.
  • Construction activity will occur from 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.

  • Motorists may experience minor delays as crews detour southbound Johnnie Dodds Boulevard traffic to Shellmore Blvd., West Frontage Road, Wingo Way, and Magrath Darby Blvd. to accommodate traffic thru this intersection.

  • Local law enforcement officers will be on site to direct traffic at each location.

Drivers traveling through the construction zones are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area. The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
