Citadel Women's Garage Sale is Saturday

Large-scale garage sale set for Deas Hall 8 a.m. to noon.

It's bargain shopping time at The Citadel, where The Citadel Women's Club Annual Garage Sale returns this month. The garage sale is open to the public and will run from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday at Deas Hall, adjacent to McAlister Field House. A $1 donation is being suggested for admission.

Proceeds from the sale go to the John S. Carter Scholarship Fund, providing financial aid to cadets. In the last 10 years more than $200,000 has been raised and awarded by the Women's Club, including $22,000 in scholarship assistance awarded last year to six cadets.

The Women's Club is an organization that works to improve campus life for cadets, faculty, staff and families at The Citadel and adopts projects to better the community. As one of the largest garage sales in the Lowcountry, bargain shoppers can find deals on household items, small appliances, cadet linens and towels, footlockers, clothing, books, office supplies, school supplies and bicycles.

"As cadets graduate, many of them enter military service and discard items they no longer need. The Women's Club recycles these items by selling them at the annual garage sale. In this way, graduating cadets contribute to the Women's Club scholarship fundraising effort," said Monedia Elzey, president of the club.

Please join us May 18th and take home great items at great prices. Credit cards will be accepted for sales totaling more than $10.
