Little Mermaid on Stage This Weekend

The Musical Theater Center of Charleston will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. on Nov. 9th and 10th at Wando High School Auditorium.

Adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. features an all-kid cast performing classic songs such as "Part of Your World," "She’s in Love," and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea."

Tickets are available now for three performances: Friday, November 9 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 10 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at can be purchased at www.once-upon-a-ballet.com.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. features an all-star cast made up entirely of talented Charleston area children. Sixth grade Charleston County School of the Arts voice major, Naomi Marchant, stars as Ariel. 12 year old Zach Green plays the dashing Prince Eric. Jenna Flaherty relishes the role of the evil and conniving Ursula the Sea Witch. And Charlotte Marchell, Sixth grader at East Cooper Montessori Charter School, gets the whole theater singing “Under The Sea” while playing the endearing crab Sebastian.

“Our show is pure family entertainment.” said Courtney Sarre, director of The Little Mermaid, Jr. “What makes our version special is the amazingly talented cast - and their effect on children in the audience. When kids see ‘other kids’ performing on stage, a connection is made that is simply not possible when ‘grown ups’ are the actors. I hope everyone gets to see that magic happen at this show.”

Tickets are available for advance purchase by visiting once-upon-a-ballet.com. Tickets will also be available at the door. There are three show times to choose from: Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 10 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a running time of one hour.
