Miss Mount Pleasant Brooke Mosteller Wins Miss South Carolina

Mount Pleasant native heads to Miss America Pageant in September.

A Mount Pleasant woman will represent South Carolina at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September. 

Miss Mount Pleasant Brooke Mosteller, a Wando High School graduate and law student at the University of South Carolina, captured the Miss South Carolina 2014 title Saturday night in Columbia.

She's the 23-year-old daughter of Rick Mosteller and Cyndi Campsen-Mosteller. Her uncle is State Sen. Chip Campsen. A standout student and scholar, Mosteller was salutatorian of her high school graduating class and racked up accolades in track and field and tennis.

Mosteller ran track and field and played tennis at Furman University, where she received her undergraduate degree. At Wando, she led her team to four straight AAAA state tennis championships as well as four straight undefeated years in conference play. She was named a Lowcountry all-star player.

In the three-day pageant at Richland Township Auditorium in Columbia, Mosteller captured a preliminary award for her swimsuit attire and also captured the Miss Congeniality award. 

Here are the other finalists:
Runner-up: Miss Greenville Lindley Mayer;
2nd Runner-up: Miss Spartanburg Clarka Wickliffe;
3rd Runner-up: Miss Hilton Head Island Lauren Cabiness;
4th Runner-up: Miss Greater Greer Lanie Hudson.
