Incidents Back up Ravenel Bridge
Accident backed up bridge at standstill; Police searched earlier for bridge jumper.
An accident on the southbound side Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge had traffic at a standstill this morning, according to motorists on the bridge, but the situation is now apparently cleared.
Earlier in the morning, however, police and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for a woman who was reported as jumping, Charleston police said.
"At about 8:50 a.m., a woman was found alive on one of the rock islands under the bridge's towers," said Charles Francis, police spokesman.

There was no other information about the woman, and it wasn't clear if she actually jumped or if she reached the rock islands through some other means. Francis said he would brief the media later in the day.
Around 10 a.m., motorists are reporting long waits as two lanes are closed on the southbound side of the bridge (from Mount Pleasant to downtown Charleston).
