Wow! House: Sullivan's Island Landmark for Sale

Former church-turned-mansion on the market.

As an East Cooper newcomer, I have to admit I didn't realize this Sullivan's Island landmark is actually a residence and not a church. But not only is someone's personal residence, it's quite opulent.

This Middle Street landmark was previously Holy Cross Episcopal Church, the Post Chapel of Fort Moultrie, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church before being converted to a home in the 1970s. It was expanded in 2009 and is now on the market.

The 5,000 square foot home sits just yards from the Atlantic coastline and boasts 7 beds and 7 baths. It boasts plenty of the Gothic-style architecture from its days as a house of worship, but the newer addition features more wide-open, beach house qualities. See more photos on Zillow.com.

The home has been on the market for just shy of three months. The owners are asking $3.4 million, which actually makes it only the second most expensive property currently for sale on the island, according to Zillow.com.
