Town Considers 119-Home Residential Development

D.R. Horton seeks approval for homes on industrial site off Long Point Road.

The Town of Mount Pleasant is considering a proposal to build 119 homes on a tract of land off Long Point Road, according to reports.

The land, currently owned by Seacoast Church, is zoned for industrial development, but neighbors have previously opposed industrial development there. Now, D.R. Horton Homes has asked to build homes there.

Town Council’s Planning Committee voted 3-1 Monday to recommend downzoning the property to single-family, a move that would allow developer D.R. Horton to proceed with building homes off Seacoast Parkway, near Interstate 526, according to the Post and Courier.
