ReVille Indicted on 22 Counts; Victim Count at 15

Prosecutor: Case could be ready for trial or plea by June.

CHARLESTON — Louis “Skip” ReVille has been indicted on 22 counts of illicit sexual contact with young boys.

The married father of three, who made himself a ubiquitous presence in the local youth sports scene as he allegedly targeted young boys, is accused of victimizing 15 young men over a 10-year period.

And there are more victims who opted not to join the criminal prosecution, said Charleston County Solicitor Scarlett Wilson, who laid out the details of the case in a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

Though ReVille left a trail of victims as he moved through the community in various religious, educational and sporting roles, the case could have been far worse if victims had not come forward, Wilson said.

“Mr. ReVille is relatively not an old man,” Wilson said. “What we see in many other cases is that the suspect is now in their 50s or 60s and they have spent 30 years doing these kinds of things. … and their crimes escalated and involved intercourse.”

These handful of victims stopped ReVille from harming more youngsters, she said.

“We are very grateful for the bravery of these young men,” Wilson said. “We wished this never would have happened to them … but they are young, and I believe this will be better for them in the long run.”

The sordid details of ReVille’s alleged crimes began to emerge in October 2011 when Mount Pleasant police charged him with performing sex acts on three teenager boys.

Since then, more victims in Mount Pleasant, as well as in Hanahan and Dorchester County, have come forward, according to documents released by Wilson’s office Tuesday.

In all, ReVille faces five counts of criminal sexual contact with a child, 12 counts of performing lewd acts on a child and 5 counts of dissemination of obscene material to a person under 18.

The case could be ready for trial by June, Wilson said. Though it’s unlikely that a trial will ever come since ReVille has reportedly admitted to many, if not all, the allegations and even assisted in the investigation.

“We’ve treated this like a trial case from the beginning,” Wilson said. “We’ll be prepared for a trial if need be.”
