Report: Man Stuck by Needle at Gas Pump

Man goes to the hospital after needle stick at gas station.

A Mount Pleasant man went to a local emergency room with a puncture wound that he said he received while pumping gas at a Johnnie Dodds Blvd. gas station.

It happened Dec. 6 at the Kangaroo gas station on U.S. 17, according to a police incident report.

The man said he was poked in his small finger when he reached for a paper towel at a gas pump. When he inspected further, the man saw a medical syringe in the dispenser.

Police placed the syringe, which had a small red-brown stain on it, into evidence, and they observed the puncture wound on the man's finger.

The victim went to a local hospital for medical testing, the report states. Police searched the station for any other syringes, and looked over surveillance footage. They found nothing of value in the video footage, and no other syringes were located.

The man told officers he would report the outcome of his emergency room tests.
