Mount Pleasant Soldier Faces Court-Martial Hearing Wednesday

A Wednesday court-martial hearing has been scheduled for an Alaska-based soldier from Mount Pleasant.

Spec. Marshall D. Drake is accused of shooting Pfc. Grant W. Wise of Fairport, N.Y., Dec. 25 in Drake's barracks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Army charged Drake with involuntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and failure to obey regulations.

Authorities say in a release that Drake has waived his right to an Article 32 hearing in February. The case was referred to a general court martial.
