Mount Pleasant Opens Farmers Market

Tuesday opening marks the start of market season across Charleston area.

Hundreds turned out Tuesday for the opening of the 2013 Mount Pleasant Farmers Market. The opening marks the start of the Charleston region's farmers markets. Charleston's downtown market opens Saturday in Marion Square along with a handful of other markets. Here's a rundown of where you can get fresh local produce and other items:

Charleston Farmers Market
Located in Marion Square in downtown Charleston, the market starts Saturday, April 13 and runs through Dec. 21. It's open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Goose Creek Farmers Market
Opens April 13 and runs through the summer. It is located at 150 Howe Hall Rd.

North Charleston Farmers Market
Open each Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Davis Community Center in Park Circle. The market opens April 18.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market
The market opens every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. until dusk. The season extends from April 9 to October 8. It is located on Coleman Blvd. on the campus of Moultrie Middle School.

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre Farmers Market
Opens May 11 and continues every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ending in August.

Summerville Farmers Market
Opens April 13 and continues every Saturday through Thanksgiving. Open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 200 S. Main Street in downtown.
