Man Charged with ATM Armed Robbery

Police: Suspect allegedly robbed two people at Mount Pleasant ATM machine.

Mount Pleasant police have arrested a suspect believed to have robbed two people early Thursday morning as they retrieved cash from a Hwy. 17 ATM machine.

Here's the police statement:

This morning at 12:22 am the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to an Armed Robbery call of two victims at the Bank of America ATM located at 1929 Highway 17 North.

The suspect description was provided and responding officers observed the defendant, Calvin Malone Vanderhorst in the area and further investigation led to his subsequent arrest.  Vanderhorst is charged with two counts of Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Pistol, and Possession of a Stolen Pistol. 

Stolen currency and a pistol believed to have been used during the robbery were recovered.  The suspect’s bond hearing will be held on June 6th, according to a police statement.
