'Lifetime Achievement Award' Presented to Restaurant Owner

Ronnie Boals Jr., owner of RB's Restaurant, receives honor.

Ronald M. “Ronnie” Boals, Jr., an institution in the restaurant business since 1962 and a fixture on Shem Creek since 1967, was recognized on April 18 with the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

“It is an honor to present Ronnie Boals with this prestigious award,” said Steve Carroll, president of the restaurant association. “We are also delighted to announce that a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of Charleston will be awarded in his name.”

Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Elton Carrier read a proclamation celebrating Ronnie Boals Day and saluting Mr. Boals’ fifty-one years of local business ownership and the great pride he has taken in his food and facilities.

“Ronnie Boals has a history of great restaurants in Mount Pleasant starting with the Piggy Park, followed by The Trawler, the Lorelei, the Mouse Trap and RB’s Seafood Restaurant,” said Carrier.

“He is also acknowledged to have had other great restaurants in Charleston and North Charleston by the names of Cappy’s, Johnny’s On The Market, The Oyster Factory and The Noisy Oyster. We congratulate Ronnie and wish him a future filled with continued success and good health.”
