Hwy. 17 Interchange Closures Continue

Nighttime roadwork will close busy Mount Pleasant intersection this weekend.

The intersection of U.S. 17 and Interstate 526, exit 29 and Hungryneck Boulevard will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday, January 14 and continuing nightly until Saturday, January 19, ending at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The closure of this intersection detours all U.S. 17 traffic, Hungryneck Boulevard traffic between U.S. 17 and Venning Road, the I-526 Exit Ramp onto U.S. 17, and the ramp from U.S. 17 onto I-526.

These nightly closures are necessary to paint the girders for the bridge over the intersection and to hang new signage.  When weather conditions (rain or extremely cold temperatures) are not conducive to painting, this full closure could become a lane closure along U.S. 17 and ramp closures to and from Hungryneck and I-526 because a full closure is not necessary for hanging signage. Please know, every effort is being made to complete these interchange improvements in a timely fashion with as little inconvenience to the traveling public as possible.  Thank you for your patience.
